We just love looking at calendars of events in Markham. They are always full of so many great things to do in our city and the surrounding area. There always seems to be something different and something for everyone.
This September is no exception. It’s all about getting active to help raise awareness and support for a number of different local and national charities and causes. (And there’s also one in case you can’t take part in the others.)

- Terry Fox Run – Sunday, September 16th – What a legacy of charity and support Terry Fox left all Canadians. Today, Terry Fox Runs happen all across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific nations, Africa and right here in Markham-Unionville! The Run has raised over $750 million for cancer research since its inception in 1981.
- Markham Cycling Day – Sunday, September 23rd – This is the largest public cycling event in all of York Region! It’s open to cyclists of all ages and abilities to give everyone the opportunity to celebrate cycling. If that’s not enough to get you to saddle up, there will be free meals, raffles, prizes and entertainment. Children aged 3 to 10 can take part in fun bicycle races too. Everyone can choose to ride a 10 km, 25km, or 50km route.
- Third Annual Walk for Andrea – Sunday,September 30th – Held in memory of Thornhill’s Andrea Marianao, who died in 2015 shortly after starting her studies at Queen’s University due to an allergic reaction. Each year, we walk in Andrea’s honour to raise funds for the Hospital for Sick Children’s Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis program to help them find a cure for food allergies. Please join us and give.
- Someone Like You – The Adele Songbook – Thursday, September 20th – Direct from the U.K., Katie Markham, an X Factor UK Finalist, performs hits from all of Adele’s three chart-topping albums. Katie was chosen by Adele herself after the two met and performed together on stage. The show features a full stage production and seven-piece band to faithfully recreate the Adele experience. If you’re an Adele fan, you don’t want to miss this performance right here in Markham at the Flato Markham Theatre.
