How to Celebrate a Unionville Christmas!

Homeowners in Markham and Unionville have the privilege of living near a heritage village whose history dates back over 200 years. It’s part of the reason that Unionville houses for sale are in such high demand.

Of course, historic villages like Unionville evoke a nostalgia for the traditions and lifestyles of days gone by. When you combine that with the centuries-old annual traditions of the Christmas season, you get the setting for a quaint holiday season like no other.

We like to call it a Unionville Christmas!

4 Ways to Celebrate a Unionville Christmas

To help you get into the spirit of the season, and enjoy more of everything Unionville has to offer, we’ve put together the following list of things to do in Unionville this Holiday Season.

  1. December 6th – Unionville Olde Tyme Christmas & Candlelight Parade – Is there anything more quaint and traditional than a candlelight parade? Enjoy festive parade floats, marching bands, and Santa Claus too, as they parade down Main Street, Unionville.

On parade night, Main St. merchants will be open late, carolers will serenade you on the sidewalk before and after the Parade, and you can meet Santa Claus at the Millenium Bandstand. Last year, the festivities started at 6:00 pm.

  2. Christmas Season Breakfasts – Starting in the morning after the parade, local Unionville restaurants will be offering weekend breakfasts with Santa for most of December until just before Christmas.

  3. Unionville Christmas Market – On the weekend of the parade and the one following, the Unionville BIA hosts a Christmas Market on Main Street. It’s patterned after the Christmas Market in Toronto’s Distillery District. In addition to the regular Main St. shops, the Christmas Market includes pop-up stores and local artisans selling their uniques wares.

  4. Stroll Main Street – Your favourite summer evening activity has a whole different feel at Christmas. Just walking up and down Main Street, with every shop decked out in its Christmas finest, will get you into the spirit of the season.
